ShaamScanner Privacy Policy

TL;DR: ShaamScanner does not collect, transmit, or share your data. Every scan, every character of recognized text, and every PDF stays on your device. The app makes no network requests — it has no backend to make them to.

What we collect

Nothing. ShaamScanner does not collect personal information, usage analytics, device identifiers, diagnostics, or any other data. There are no user accounts, no login, no server.

What the app accesses on your device

• Camera: only while the document scanner is open, to capture pages. Frames are processed by Apple's VisionKit directly on your device and never leave it. Access is requested the first time you start a scan.
• Photo Library: only when you choose to import existing photos as pages. We show Apple's standard picker, then process the selected images on-device. We do not read the rest of your library.
• Local storage: scanned pages and extracted text are saved inside the app's sandboxed container on your device. They are not uploaded anywhere. Deleting the app removes them.

On-device processing

ShaamScanner uses the following Apple frameworks, all of which run locally on your iPhone or iPad:

• VisionKit for edge detection, perspective correction, and multi-page capture.
• Vision for text recognition (OCR).
• Core Image for filters and image adjustments.
• PDFKit for generating PDFs from your scans.
• SwiftData for storing document metadata locally.

None of these frameworks transmit the content of your scans over the network. ShaamScanner itself contains no networking code.

Sharing and export

When you tap Share, iOS shows the standard share sheet. If you choose to send a PDF or image to another app (Mail, Messages, Files, a third-party app, etc.), that app's privacy policy applies to what happens next. ShaamScanner only hands the file to iOS; it doesn't know or care what you do with it.

Children

ShaamScanner is not directed to children under 13. Because the app collects no data, there is nothing to disclose about child users specifically, but we ask that children use the app only with a parent or guardian's permission.

Third parties

We do not use analytics SDKs, advertising SDKs, crash reporters, attribution platforms, or any other third-party services that could receive your data.

Changes to this policy

If we ever change what ShaamScanner does (for example, by adding an optional sync feature you opt into), we'll update this page and the "Last updated" date above, and we'll call out the change clearly inside the app.
